It was a good weekend for all of Morriston Cricket Club with all three Saturday Teams coming out on top on each of their matches with the 1st XI and 2nd XI playing Hills Plymouth and the 3rd XI playing Skewen.

Leigh Rees made an impressive return to the 1st team as he returned figures of 3-41 to help reduce Hills Plymouth to 146. Dean Edwards and Paul Sayce were the other leading wicket takers. Morriston were always up with the required rate and Dean Edwards (40 NO) and Owain Gimblett (48 NO) capped off an impressive team display.

2nd XI by David Davies

Morriston travelled to deepest darkest Hills Plymouth for their twelfth match of the season. Morriston were invited to bat and made a quick start with Sam Richards hitting all balls to every part of the ground and finished with a well constructed 98. Skewen were the opponents for Morriston 3rds on Saturday and Morriston were put into bat which resulted in being Skewen's downfall. Matthew Jelley (39) and Tudor Thomas (23) both batted soundly and got Morriston off to a flier, with Jelley creaming sixes and fours down the ground for the rest of us to find. Darren Mogridge (45 NO) also batted well and was well supported by Robat Powel (16) and Neil Thomas (29) which gave Morriston a fine total of 186-4 off their allocated 45 overs. After tea, Morriston turned on the style with Carl Rees taking two wickets and Andrew Thomas bowling superbly well and deserved more than one wicket from his 10 overs. Alex Johnson took 4 wickets and Darren Mogridge picked up a wicket which left Luke Jones 2 wickets to wrap up a superb victory!
